Planned Parenthood has gone apoplectic over “Project 2025,” a strategic policy initiative to prepare for a possible conservative administration beginning in 2025. The initiative is the brainchild of the Heritage Foundation, a prominent thinktank with a mission to “promote human flourishing by restoring self-governance to the American people.”
Project 2025’s Mandate for Leadership lays out concrete measures for government departments and their respective agencies to uphold conservative values, with an emphasis on restoring the family as the centerpiece of American life, dismantling the bloated administrative state, defending our nation’s sovereignty, and securing what our Constitution calls “the Blessings of Liberty.”
Planned Parenthood condemns Project 2025 as “horrific“ and a “dangerous plot to alter the government’s functions.“ On this last point they are correct. For over 100 years, Planned Parenthood has insisted that destroying the family by killing its most vulnerable members – unborn children – is an essential function of government. Our current administration zealously supports this murderous agenda, shoveling nearly $700 million in taxpayer dollars to the nation’s largest abortion provider last year alone.
Project 2025 aims to change this.
The initiative incorporates proposals crucial to restoring a culture of life, including:
- Protection of Unborn Life: Project 2025 strongly supports policies that protect children in the womb. This entails advocating for federal and state legislation that restricts abortion as well as support for pregnancy centers that offer alternatives to abortion.
- Defunding Abortionists: The initiative would abolish taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood and other organizations that perform or promote abortions. These funds can be redirected to community health centers that do not offer abortion services.
- Support for Pro-life Judges: Project 2025 advocates for the appointment of judges and justices who adhere to a proper interpretation of the Constitution and are likely to support pro-life rulings. This includes nominees to the Supreme Court, federal courts, and other judicial positions.
- Promotion of Pro-life Policies in Healthcare: The initiative calls for healthcare policies that respect and protect life at all stages, beginning at conception. It also ensures conscience protections for healthcare providers who refuse to participate in abortion.
- Educational and Cultural Efforts: Project 2025 promotes a culture of life through education and public awareness campaigns. This includes supporting pro-life educational programs and initiatives that aim to shift public opinion in favor of life.
- International Pro-life Advocacy: The initiative seeks to promote pro-life policies not only domestically but also internationally. It eliminates international funding for abortions and advocates for the protection of unborn life in global forums.
