Anastasia’s Unjust Arrest
Yesterday, Anastasia Rogers, a young woman and local pro-life advocate, was arrested while standing on a public sidewalk outside a Planned Parenthood facility in San Francisco. Anastasia was peacefully engaged in sidewalk outreach, offering pregnancy resource information to women seeking abortion—activity squarely protected by the First Amendment.
Anastasia was handcuffed and taken to the county jail following an allegation by on-duty security that she had used “threatening language” in a social media post related to her outreach. Life Legal’s review found no threats and concluded that Anastasia was not obstructing access, threatening anyone, or violating any law.
Anastasia was released from custody last night at approximately 7:00 p.m.

Life Legal is representing Anastasia and is actively reviewing the circumstances surrounding her arrest and the charges against her. Life Legal Director of Criminal Litigation Allison Aranda will appear on Anastasia’s behalf at a court hearing scheduled for Monday. We will vigorously defend Anastasia’s constitutional rights and challenge the misuse of laws intended to silence lawful, peaceful public witness.
This incident should concern everyone who values free speech, due process, and the right to offer help and information on public sidewalks. Arrests like this are not about public safety—they are about intimidation.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Life Legal has repeatedly seen peaceful pro-life advocates—often young people—targeted with exaggerated or unfounded allegations in an effort to chill speech and deter others from speaking out for preborn children and their mothers. This is precisely why Life Legal exists.
We ask you to please pray for Anastasia—for peace and courage as she faces these charges, for wisdom for her attorneys and the court, and for the protection of her constitutional rights.
Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and steadfast support. Your commitment allows us to act when advocates like Anastasia most urgently need legal defense. We will continue to keep you informed as this case develops.
