It’s just over nine years since the Center for Medical Progress began releasing its shocking videos on Planned Parenthood’s side business of peddling baby body parts for “valuable consideration.” CMP’s evidence shook the foundations of the abortion industry even harder than Bernard Nathanson’s Silent Scream way back in 1984.
And the abortion industry responded with a determined program of lawfare that had never been seen before. We at Life Legal know because we have been battling the pro-abortion onslaught against CMP for all of those nine years.
David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt went undercover as baby body part entrepreneurs and taped Planned Parenthood officials casually discussing the sale of human livers, hearts, brains, eyes, extremities, and whole cadavers as if there could be no possible objection to such a procedure. One abortionist executive even quipped that baby part earnings might buy her a Lamborghini.

The sale of fetal tissue was expressly contrary to federal law in 2015 and remains so today. Yet Planned Parenthood’s capos have not been prosecuted. Indeed, they are still the beneficiaries of extensive federal funding.
What’s worse, they and their cronies have managed to make life torturous for the heroes of CMP. Life Legal and other advocates fended off a whole set of vindictive lawsuits, but Planned Parenthood’s own action made it past our defensive perimeter. After a civil trial that didn’t even allow the jury to see the videos in question, CMP’s officers are currently saddled with $2.4 million in damages and nearly $16 million in attorney fees – all on the specious grounds that exposure of the baby body part racket cost the child dismemberment crew and excessive amount in enhanced security.
Planned Parenthood and its media puppets continue to claim that the abortion giant’s billing for baby body parts only covered costs. But a congressional panel in 2017 documented that Planned Parenthood charged per specimen and not according to costs.
Beyond exposing the illegality of Planned Parenthood’s baby body part business model, CMP’s extensive video revelations and subsequent investigation showed the world something that the mainstream media had labored long to obfuscate: the grisly, seamy reality of the abortion syndicate….
- Did abortion only target of a mass of undifferentiated cells, as child-killing apologists loved to maintain? No. If eyes, internal organs, limbs, and whole heads were being harvested by Planned Parenthood’s ghouls, then those cells must have differentiated a long time before!
- Did abortionists limit their exertions to the first three months, or to the first six months, of gestational age? No. One Planned Parenthood specialist in infant destruction even admitted, on camera, that she used main strength to tear legs off the fully developed bodies of her victims!
- Did abortion businesses harbor the utmost concern for the physical and emotional welfare of women – and especially for their much-touted privacy? No. Instead, Planned Parenthood routinely violated HIPAA laws to accelerate the process of organ acquisition!
And the list went on. No matter how the Planned Parenthood gang squawked and screeched, the horror show that lay behind its humane and respectable veneer was visible to anyone who cared to look. That’s why CMP had to be silenced.
It’s vital for pro-lifers to realize that the post-mortem abuse of the victims of abortion continues to this day – for example, at the University of California, San Francisco, Medical Center. When in this context we say, “Never forget,” we’re not talking about anything confined to the past. The sort of crime exposed by CMP is still going on.
The pro-aborts are counting on their victory in Planned Parenthood v. CMP to intimidate pro-lifers. They want us all to lose heart and give up the struggle. Don’t fall in with the plans of the baby-killers!
