Dobbs at Three: A Victory—and a Warning
Today marks the third anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health decision—a ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade and returned the power to regulate abortion to the states.
Since then, the ground has shifted. In three years, dozens of states have enacted laws prohibiting surgical abortions at various stages of development. Twelve states now have no brick-and-mortar abortion facilities within their borders. These laws are not just legal victories—they’re lifelines for thousands of babies and mothers.
Life Legal has been on the front lines from the start.
We’ve submitted amicus briefs in major court battles, defended pro-life laws from coast to coast, and stood with pregnancy centers and sidewalk counselors under fire in some of the nation’s most hostile pro-abortion jurisdictions.
But while Dobbs changed the legal landscape, the cultural and legal war over life has intensified.
Here’s what we’re up against:
- Chemical abortion is flooding into pro-life states, even where surgical abortion is prohibited.
- So-called “shield laws” protect abortion providers who mail pills across state lines—defying local laws without consequence.
- Overseas abortionists are shipping abortion drugs directly into states that have outlawed the practice—unregulated, unaccountable, and unchecked.
- Radical abortion amendments are passing in states that once protected life.
- Ohio and Missouri voters passed constitutional amendments enshrining a right to abortion until fetal viability—wiping out critical protections for children in the womb.
This is our moment to act—but we need your support:
