Help expose what happened behind those clinic doors.
Planned Parenthood has offered no explanation for the death of 18-year-old Alexis “Lexi” Arguello after a second-trimester abortion at its Fort Collins, Colorado facility. No public statement. No acknowledgment. No accountability.
That silence is unacceptable — and that is why Life Legal, in partnership with Operation Rescue, has invested significant time and resources to uncover the truth. We are working relentlessly to obtain emergency response reports and other records to determine what went wrong and why an otherwise healthy young woman — and her unborn child — are now dead.
So far, officials have refused to provide the transparency that the law — and basic human decency — require.
We are intervening because Planned Parenthood refuses to answer even the most basic questions.
What We Do Know
Lexi didn’t know she was pregnant when she sought help for what she believed was a urinary tract infection. Planned Parenthood confirmed she was pregnant — roughly 22 weeks along — and performed a late-term abortion on February 6, 2025.
During the procedure, Lexi suffered a severe medical complication that requires immediate emergency intervention. But according to sworn testimony presented at a Colorado Health and Human Services Committee hearing, that is not what happened.
A physician testifying at the hearing revealed that:
- Staff allegedly delayed calling 911
- Lexi was transferred to the hospital too late
- The ambulance was requested without lights or sirens — an inexplicable choice during a medical emergency
- By the time Lexi arrived at the hospital, doctors could not save her despite heroic efforts, blood transfusions, and repeated resuscitation attempts
In other words — Lexi did not receive the emergency care she needed in time to survive.
Planned Parenthood’s Response? Oppose Regulation.
Despite her death:
- No staff have publicly addressed the delays
- No explanation has been offered for the “no sirens” request
- No apology has been issued
- No corrective steps have been announced
Just one month after Lexi’s death—Planned Parenthood opposed legislation that would require the state to license facilities that perform second and third-trimester abortions. Claudia Perez, Public Affairs Manager for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, testified that creating licensure standards for abortion clinics is “irrelevant” and creates “unnecessary barriers.”
Lexi Arguello could have used those barriers.
Planned Parenthood couldn’t even be bothered to mention her name.
Why Life Legal Is Taking Action
Planned Parenthood wants to erase Lexi’s death — to make her another statistic, another casualty of an industry built on secrecy and denial.
We will not let that happen.
Life Legal is:
✔︎ pursuing public records to uncover what happened
✔︎ working with medical experts to analyze decisions and delays
✔︎ holding state officials accountable for inadequate oversight
✔︎ preparing legal action to ensure the truth is brought to light
This case is not just about what happened to Lexi. It is about how Planned Parenthood prioritizes protecting its public image over the lives of women and children.
