Supreme Court Victory: States Can Defund Planned Parenthood!

In a powerful win for life, the U.S. Supreme Court has dealt a devastating blow to Planned Parenthood’s relentless quest for taxpayer dollars.

Last week, the Court rejected Planned Parenthood’s challenge in Medina v. Planned Parenthood, upholding South Carolina’s right to cut off Medicaid funding to abortion providers. This ruling sends a clear message: states are not required to funnel your hard-earned money into the coffers of the nation’s largest abortion chain.

Planned Parenthood sued after South Carolina determined that abortion providers were unfit to serve as medical providers. Recognizing the broader implications of this case, Life Legal filed an amicus brief warning the Court:

“Abortion cases have historically distorted unrelated legal doctrines—always to favor abortion providers. The Court must end this manipulation and uphold the rule of law.”

The ruling protects states’ rights to deny Medicaid funding to abortion businesses and prevents Planned Parenthood from weaponizing federal rules to expand abortion access nationwide.

This is a major victory for the pro-life movement. States can now protect vulnerable babies from an industry intent on killing them—without fear of being dragged into endless court battles by Planned Parenthood’s legal army.

But the fight is far from over. Planned Parenthood is desperate to keep its taxpayer funding streams open and will stop at nothing to challenge pro-life policies nationwide.

That is why Life Legal stands ready on the front lines—to fight back against these assaults on life and liberty and defend states that refuse to bankroll abortion.

Together, we are building a future where every life is protected in law and welcomed in love.
