Last month, President Trump issued an Executive Order directing his Administration to develop policies that would expand access to in vitro fertilization (IVF). While the stated goal is to help families overcome financial and regulatory barriers to fertility treatment, this Order raises serious ethical and moral concerns—especially for those of us who uphold the sanctity of life and the dignity of human procreation.
Life Legal believes that every human life is sacred from the moment of conception. IVF, however, routinely involves the creation of multiple embryos, many of whom are discarded, frozen indefinitely, or subjected to experimentation. This process treats human life as a commodity rather than a sacred gift from God. Additionally, IVF separates the unitive and procreative aspects of marriage, replacing the natural conception of children with a laboratory process that undermines the dignity of human reproduction.
The Administration’s plan to “protect IVF access” and reduce costs could pave the way for even greater disregard for life at the earliest stages. The White House has indicated that future policy recommendations may include insurance mandates and state-level legislative changes to increase availability. The ethical concerns surrounding IVF cannot be ignored. No matter how well-intentioned, efforts to expand access to a process that routinely results in the destruction of human embryos are incompatible with a culture of life.
We must speak out now. The Administration’s full policy recommendations are due in May, and we cannot allow ethical concerns to be sidelined. You can express your opposition to the recent executive order by calling or emailing the White House.

I am deeply concerned about your Executive Order on IVF expansion. While I sympathize with couples struggling with infertility, IVF routinely results in the destruction of human embryos—unique human lives that deserve protection. I cannot support policies that promote the destruction, freezing, or experimentation on human embryos and any effort to expand access must acknowledge these grave ethical concerns. I strongly urge the Administration to consider ethical alternatives that respect both the dignity of the child and the sanctity of human life. Please ensure that future policy recommendations uphold life-affirming principles and do not promote embryo destruction or coercive insurance mandates. Thank you.
Your support enables us to continue advocating for policies that respect human dignity and uphold the sanctity of life at every stage.
Thank you for standing with us in defense of life.
