Life Legal is back in court—defending three courageous men and women who, along with three others, risked everything to save lives during a Red Rose Rescue.
What is a Red Rose Rescue? It is an act of peaceful witness inside an abortion clinic. Rescuers quietly approach women scheduled for abortion, offering them a red rose, a prayer card, and the assurance that real help is available if they choose life.
For this simple act of compassion, our clients were jailed and now face criminal trespass charges. The magistrate judge overseeing the case has shown clear hostility to the rescuers. Yet they remain steadfast, believing this form of civil disobedience is the only way to reach women in the critical moments before an irreversible decision is made.
And in this case, their presence shut the clinic down for the entire day. No abortions were committed. Mothers who had appointments were given something priceless: more time to reflect and realize they have another choice.
These rescues embody what it means to “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves” (Proverbs 31:8). But the cost is high. Without skilled legal defense, the state would silence these voices of hope and mercy.
