Just days ago, Ron K., a longtime sidewalk prayer warrior, was peacefully praying outside the Planned Parenthood on Bush Street. He sat in his parked truck, displaying a simple message in the window: “Pray to End Abortion.”
Then came the intimidation.
A group of 15 to 20 people—including two San Francisco police officers, several people in suits, and Planned Parenthood’s private security—descended on the area. They blocked the sidewalk (which we’re never allowed to do) and began gesturing toward Ron’s truck and sign.
You might remember Ron’s name.
Several years ago, he was viciously assaulted by an antifa agitator while praying outside the same facility. Life Legal tracked down the attacker and gave his information to police—only to have SFPD warn the perpetrator by calling his employer, giving him time to flee. We stood ready to file suit on Ron’s behalf, but the attacker vanished.
Then, a year later, SFPD issued Ron a criminal citation for praying outside Planned Parenthood during the city’s “shelter in place” order. Once again, Life Legal stepped in. Not only were the charges dismissed, but the city attorney assured us that pro-lifers would no longer be targeted under the order.
This time, we were even faster.
As soon as we were alerted, our attorney contacted Ron, confirmed his rights, and equipped him to stand firm. So when the police returned, Ron was ready—he calmly informed them that his actions were fully legal and constitutionally protected. And if they had any doubts, they were welcome to take it up with his attorney.
The police left—and never came back.
