A groundbreaking new study from the Ethics and Public Policy Center released on Monday has revealed what the abortion industry and its allies at the FDA don’t want you to know: abortion pills are far more dangerous than the public has been led to believe.
This isn’t speculation. It’s real-world data showing a significant increase in serious complications, emergency room visits, and life-threatening outcomes associated with chemical abortions.
The FDA has repeatedly claimed that abortion pills are “safe and effective.” But the facts tell a different story. By eliminating longstanding safeguards—including mandatory in-person visits and physician oversight—the FDA put ideology above science and politics above patient safety.
This crisis is not only an assault on unborn children—it’s a betrayal of women. Teen girls and young mothers are being abandoned to suffer the brutal aftermath of chemical abortion—bleeding, cramping, and collapsing alone on a bathroom floor, with no doctor, no follow-up, and no warning of what’s to come.

Just last week, FDA Commissioner Marty Makary confirmed that the agency has no plans to revise its policy on abortion drugs—despite growing evidence of harm. He said the FDA would only reconsider if “new data” clearly demonstrates a safety risk.
Life Legal is calling on the FDA to immediately suspend its approval of Mifepristone in light of the disturbing new data. At the very least, the FDA must reinstate basic, common-sense safety measures that were recklessly removed under political pressure.
Furthermore, the FDA has a duty to commission independent and transparent studies to fully assess the risks of chemical abortion drugs.
